FUSO Philippines showcased the brand’s latest modern PUV to the Queen City of the South

August 31, 2021

Cebu City, July 30, 2021 – Despite the occurring pandemic, the Cebu Commercial Vehicle Show in partnership with the National Federation of Transport Cooperative successfully held the 1st Transport Cooperative Visayas Congress last July 30, Friday at the Waterfront Hotel, Cebu City, Philippines. The event’s objective is to discuss the implementation of the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP).

PUVMP envisions a restructured, modern, well-managed, and environmentally sustainable transport sector where drivers and operators have stable, sufficient, and dignified livelihoods while commuters get to their destinations quickly, safely, and comfortably.

Considering the objective of the event, Sojitz Fuso Philippines Corporation (SFP) believes that this is a good venue to present the truck line-up, most especially the Public Utility Vehicles (PUV) models purposely built for transportation.

Hailed as the “Queen City of the South”, Cebu City has great possibilities in terms of economic, business, and infrastructure. As transportation is known to be an important sector both private and public, the transport congress is timely especially in the Visayas region.

Together in one venue, transport cooperatives have welcomed representatives from different transportation sectors, government leaders, and automotive companies including the Guests of Honor, Spokesperson of the Office of the President – Hon. Harry Roque, Senators of the Senate of the Philippines – Hon. Miguel Zubiri and Hon. Sherwin Gatchalian, NFTC National Director – Mr. Vicente Artillero, NFTC National Chairman – Mr. Armando Delos Reyes, Cebu City Mayor – Hon. Edgardo Labella, and Cebu Province Governor – Hon. Gwendolyn Garcia.

Hon. Zubiri, discussed the sector’s modernization efforts and challenges amidst the global pandemic. “The transport sector is facing a real paradigm change, in terms of PUV modernization,” he stated. “I made sure that our transport cooperatives were included in the loan and subsidy programs provided by the DOTr in the wake of the pandemic” he added mentioning further support for the sector through this transition.

Sojitz Fuso Philippines Corporation was among the commercial vehicle brands that participated in the event rolling out their version of modern PUV showcasing the reliability and strong performance of FUSO Canter Express (Class III) in the Queen City of the South. As SFP exhibits the brand’s 25-Seater Modern PUV, it also guaranteed driver and passenger comfort, equipped with a front dashcam, rear camera, and cabin CCTV cameras for safety and driver-friendly for the Cebuano’s.

The FUSO Canter Commute (Class II) on the other hand, has side-facing seats (like traditional jeepneys) that can accommodate 20 passengers and 10 more standing. Designed and crafted to provide the transportation needs of the public, ensuring safety and convenience.

For a more comprehensive and detailed discourse regarding the implementation of the PUV Modernization Program, part of the congress is an open forum to discuss the issues and concerns on Transport Cooperative Operations. Joining the forum – Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), Cooperative Development Authority (CDA), and Office of Transportation Cooperatives (OTC) as panel resources to answer all their queries. It is also to understand the transformation of modern transportation as the Filipino’s drive towards the “new normal”.

Amidst the occurring quarantine classification on both Metro Manila and nearby provinces, Sojitz Fuso Philippines Corporation, together with its dealers, will remain committed to providing campaigns, programs, and necessary services that are all in line with the SFP mission to contribute to the drive for development and betterment of living in the Philippines.
